Carla Fox has 20 years of experience providing counselling to individuals, families and groups. Carla is highly skilled in a variety of evidence based therapeutic approaches; yet no matter the approach, Carla will be working with you to collaboratively explore your struggles while helping you to understand and strengthen your relationship with yourself and others. Carla fundamentally believes that each person is their own specialist and that the therapeutic process is meant to help you be reflective and improve your thoughts, behaviours and emotional responses so that you may achieve your goals.
Whether you are a child, adolescent, or adult; you will find that Carla brings a warm, client-centred approach to her work with you. She has extensive experience in both community mental health agencies and hospitals. In these settings she has continued to develop her skill-set in a range of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Family Therapy, Expressive Therapy, and more recently Mindfulness.
In the past few years, with an increased focus on developing a formal mindfulness meditation practice, Carla has been expanding her clinical skills by participating in a variety of mindfulness and cognitive-behavioural therapy based trainings focussing on anxiety, depression, pain and illness. Carla is currently continuing her education in these more specialized approaches.
Carla is a registered social worker. She is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
